With the use of a
3-D infrared camera, we can image the tooth and the surrounding
teeth. That information is fed into the CEREC acquisition computer
where the computer generates a 3-D image of the area we are working
on. Dr. Widen will then design the restoration with the help of the
computer. Once the final design is approved , just a few clicks of a
button will send the information wirelessly to the porcelain milling unit
in the back room after choosing the proper color for the restoration. The
milling unit will mill the restoration out of a solid block of porcelain
within 15 minutes. It will then be tried in the mouth, polished or
glazed and prepared for bonding. Once the restoration is bonded in
place it is adjusted and polished.
You get to leave with a brand new
porcelain restoration, without waiting 2 weeks for the lab to make it,
gagging on impressions, no need for a second visit and worrying if that temporary will stay in your
mouth.
